Draft Preview - Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers hope to improve their pass rush, find a safety and wide receiver from this NFL Draft.

2013 draft picks: 1st round (17), 2(48), 3(79), 4(115), 5(150), 6(186, 206), 7 (223)

Wow, there's some interesting roster turnover in Pittsburgh, as the Steelers lost some big name players. Running back Rashard Mendenhall, wide receiver Mike Wallace, offensive lineman Willie Colon , outside linebacker James Harrison, cornerback Keenan Lewis and safeties Will Allen and Ryan Mundy are all no longer with the team.

Now the Steelers looks towards this week's draft, where they have holes to fill with one selection in each of the rounds.

1) Outside Linebacker
The Steelers would love to find an elite outside linebacker that can get after the quarterback. If things set up right Jarvis Jones could fall right into their lap. Jones is an ideal fit in their scheme and is the best pass rusher in this draft.

Jones could be off the board. If that happens they turn their attention to this spot later in the draft. James Collins, Trevardo Williams, and Ty Powell are three names to watch.

2) Wide Receiver
The Steelers lost a truly big play guy in Mike Wallace. But they could gain that explosiveness back with the addition of Cordarrelle Patterson or even Tavon Austin. It's likely Austin is off the board and there's a good possibility that Patterson is as well. But if not, it will be tempting for Pittsburgh. Patterson is raw as can be but his upside is huge.

3) Safety
At what point does the Steeler brass start looking for their next safety to take the spot of Troy Polamalu? Kenny Vacarro could be available to Pittsburgh at No. 17. They could also have a shot at Eric Reid (whom they love) perhaps with their second selection.

4) Tight End
No one knows how Heath Miller's knee will respond in rehab or what kind of player he will be when he comes back. Pittsburgh is in prime position to choose tight end Tyler Eifert or Zach Ertz. Of course they could choose to wait and look at some other guys like Gavin Escobar, Travis Kelce or Vance McDonald.

5) Offensive Line
The Steelers need to find a right tackle at some point, if nothing more than to provide depth.

6) Defensive End
Again, the Steelers pass rush this past season was not where it needs to be. Another defensive end who can get after the quarterback would be just what the doctor ordered.
