Tampa Bay claimed linebacker Leon Joe off waivers on Tuesday, while moving two players to injured reserve and cutting one player to bring their roster down to 75 players.
Joe, a four-year veteran, has played 28 NFL games, with one start, for Chicago and Arizona. Joe has only 54 career tackles (including special teams), but he has played in the Cover 2 system in Chicago under Bears head coach — and former Tampa Bay linebackers coach — Lovie Smith.
Meanwhile, the Buccaneers ended the seasons of tight end Matt Herian and guard Jeb Terry by placing them on injured reserve. Terry did not play last week due to a sprained ankle, while Herian had not played since the preseason opener.
The Buccaneers also released punter Sean Douglas.
