The big news coming after the Bucs announced all of their cuts on Saturday was that the team was keeping all four quarterbacks. It didn't take long for everything to change as backup QB Luke McCown was traded to the Jaguars for an undisclosed draft pick. Rookie Josh Freeman is now expected to take over the role as the main backup to starter Byron Leftwich. Read on for more on the trade.

The Buccaneers have announced that they have traded QB Luke McCown to Jacksonville for an undisclosed draft pick.

It is expected to be a conditional sixth round pick in the 1010 NFL Draft that could turn into a fifth round selection.

McCown had signed a two year deal with a $2.5 million roster bonus prior to the season but was unable to beat out free agent QB Byron Leftwich for the starting spot.

The three quarterbacks on the Bucs roster will now Be Byron Leftwich, Josh Johnson, and Josh Freeman.

Everyone seemed to predict that Johnson was the odd man out, but a strong training camp and preseason prevented Johnson from getting the axe.

Now, Freeman is expected to be the main backup while Josh Johnson will be the third stringer.

McCown still will be the backup in Jacksonville, behind David Garrard, but should not be challenged for the second string spot. The other quarterbacks on the Jaguars roster include QB Todd Bouman. The team had waived QB Todd Boeckman on Saturday.

McCown has played in 12 career games with seven starts. His best season with the Bucs came in 2007 when he competed 67.8 percent of his passes in five games with five touchdowns and three interceptions.

For his career, McCown has completed 142-238 (59.7 percent) with 9 TDs and 10 INTs while rushing 21 times for 157 yards.

The trade opens up another roster spot for the Buccaneers, who now have 51 players on their roster. The team has two open roster spots so expect the team to keep a close eye on players who were cut from other teams.
